Comprehensive Academy
We support the development of university research activities and human resources by providing a place for junior faculty members to discover original and novel research ideas based on their own academic interests, regardless of their field of study. We also encourage Academy Scholars to consider the importance of promoting research while being aware of their social expectations and responsibilities.
Course for the Class of 2025
Standard Program:
1. Orientation (2 hours)
Explanation of course program and question and answer session.
2. Interview (30 minutes/person)
Individual interviews for all participants.
3. Introduction of Each Participant (20 minutes/person)
Presentation of research to date.
4. Special Lecture – Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi and Dr. Keisuke Suzuki (4 hours)
Dr. Ohsumi and Dr. Suzuki give lots of advice about research! Listen to the professors' thoughts on research and think about own career.
5. Visiting Institute of Science Tokyo Hospital
Visiting the Institute hospital, a clinical site.
6. Group Work (4 hours)
Thinking about how to connect your research with society into the future.
7. Plans for Future Research (20 minutes/person)
Each participant will give a presentation on their plans for future research, as deliberated for over two months.
8. Poster Presentation
Poster presentation of this year's results and discussion with other participants in the Specialized and Comprehensive Academies.
9. Incentive Research Fund for New and Challenging Projects
In-house research fund for new research proposals that are challenging in nature.
10. Grant-in-Aid for Pioneering Research
In-house research grant for the blossoming of challenging research.
